Autumn Dating: October

Back to Articles

We're in a world where romance can slip down the priority list. Get back into a winning streak by getting in touch with your romantic side this Autumn...

Dates are not about how much money you throw at them, they are about how much thought and creativity you can summon up. Remind your date that they 'are worth it' and things will go well for you.

Here's 10 autumnal dates to spark your creativity and make memories this October (don't forget your camera!):

Book store

Find a good local second hand book store and each of you search for a book that you love. Buy the books, inscribe them and swap. Head to a cosy coffee house and snuggle up with their book. Then you will have lots to discuss and the book will always remind them of you :)

Everything Autumn

Spend an afternoon gathering leaves, branches and pine cones to decorate your houses for Autumn. Stop by the market to pick out your pumpkins, candles and fairy lights. Then it's time to make your homes more 'autumn magic' than 'scary halloween'. Find pumpkin carving stencils online and light up your door-step whilst the pumpkin loaf and spiced apple cider is making the house smell heavenly.

Dawn

The dawn is getting later which makes this one a little easier. Check the weather for a clear day and warn your date to dress warm. Pick them up before dawn and drive them to a good view point facing East. Watch the sun rise with a steaming thermos of hot chocolate and a couple of warm rugs.

A Walk in the Park

Head to a shop you both like (or for a fun twist – a charity shop or market) and take your time picking out a couple of sweaters for each-other, or scarves (or an umbrella!). Once you have modeled to your heart's content, head to a nice park and take a walk wearing your new purchases. Don't forget to swing by your local coffee house on the way to pick up something yummy and hot.

Museum

Head to the city and take each other to your favorite museums or galleries. Become the tour guide or explore a new museum or exhibition together. Make fun of the austere Egyptians or marvel at the brush strokes. Then you can hit the antique shops feeling very educated...

iTunes

Each take a journey back through your life and find those significant songs that sum up different times in your life or you've found powerful. Buy them all and listen to them telling the stories as you go and why they are important or funny or cringeworthy to you. Just think, your heart may go on...

Picnic in the leaves

Find a spot where the autumn leaves make a canopy and prepare the perfect picnic (hamper a must!). You could even have a friend help you with setting a table (careful with candles!) and have it ready for the picnic.

Plane Train or Automobile

Meet at a station and pick a place to go, plan a ride on a steam train or book a budget day return flight to the continent. Venice makes the perfect day trip. Fly early, catch the airport boat across the lagoon to San Marco Square, explore the watery streets via gondola, eat amazing food, run to the Rialto. It will be a day you'll never forget.

Hit the Coast

The genius thing about the UK is you can get to the coast easily from everywhere! Find a beach or headland and get thoroughly windswept. Chase the waves, explore the caves, write an essay in the sand and then retreat to a cosy pub or visit the chip shop!

Tour Guide

Find a town that your date has not been and take them there on a special guided tour of the best places. Draw faces on your coffee cups and take photos of them in all the spots you visit. Develop your snaps and giggle at your little coffee characters or put together an online album regaling the world about a day out in...
